Why Did You Become a Dentist?
Dr. Dunson actually became interested in oral healthcare form a young age, as his uncle worked as a dentist.
This gave him a lot of up-close-and-personal looks at the field and what the day-to-day reality of the work
was like! It wasn’t until he graduated college that he decided he wanted to seriously pursue dentistry as a
career himself – but past that point, he never looked back.
Where Did You Study Dentistry?
After graduating Magna Cum Laude with a degree in biology and minor in chemistry from Texas State
University, Dr. Dunson pursued his dental doctorate at Baylor College of Dentistry. During his time there,
he won the Award for Cosmetic Excellence! Since then, he has completed multiple preceptorships in
orthodontics, implant dentistry, and cosmetic dentistry. To this day, he continues to tirelessly study new
developments related to smile makeovers and esthetic oral healthcare. In fact, he’s completed over a hundred
cosmetic cases over the years, including dozens of full mouth rehabilitations and total smile makeovers.
He’s currently a proud member of the American Dental Association and Texas Dental Association.
Outside Of The Dental Office, What Do You Like To Do?
Dr. Dunson is married to Carly, who used to be a dental assistant and now manages the marketing of their
dental office. They have twin girls named Sydney and Presley. Before the birth of his girls, he severely
broke his ankle playing sand volleyball, and doctors told him that he may never run or play sports again!
But Dr. Dunson started swimming as part of his rehabilitation, which progressed to biking and then running.
On a whim, he signed up for a triathlon with his best friend in 2010 – and he was hooked!
Today, Dr. Dunson is an avid triathlete, spending most of his free time outside of the dental office training
and racing. He’s completed five full Ironman’s, including a World Championship, and has achieved
All-American status in his age group over the last seven years. He hopes to compete for many more years to
come! He’s also an avid fan of snow skiing in both backcountry and resort settings.
